Premium Hay for Rabbits, Guinea Pigs & Small Pets

Premium Nutrient-Rich Hay for Rabbits & Small Pets

Our hay is planted in volcanic soil and grown at high altitudes in a cooler climate, allowing it to grow slowly and develop more nutrients, and is softer, and easier to chew and digest.  It is grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or GMOs. It’s a premium, natural source of nutrition for rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small animals.

    Bunnies love it.

Wanted an alternative to the pine bedding as I read that it is bad for them. This straw is dry and soft and keeps them warm. The bunnies love sitting on it. They also like eating it. I love that I can compost the old straw & use it as mulch when I replace with fresh straw. Looking for a cheaper alternative but until I find it, I will keep purchasing this one. It's been about 10 days. I still have half the box left. And I use quiet a bit as they have two litter boxes and I also use it in their hideout.

    Bunny-approved

I could immediately tell the difference between this and Timothy Hay when I opened the bag. It's hard to describe the scent, but it almost smells more "green" to me compared to Timothy Hay.Gus Gus strongly approves of this hay. This seems to be about the same price that you pay for a bag of Timothy Hay, depending on size and brand. However, one thing I've learned from volunteering at my local rabbit rescue is how important it is to have high fiber hay available to help with bunny digestive issues. If your bunny has digestive issues make sure you mix some of this in and keep Critical Care on hand in case needed. But hopefully feeding them teff hay will prevent that from being necessary.Another teff grass hay benefit is if you're allergic to Timothy grass but not this you can use this instead. There's a bit less sneezing in our house now.

Good quality hay. My bunnies prefer it over Timothy hay.

This hay is much thinner and shorter than the typical Timothy hay. Some bunnies might prefer thinner pieces while others prefer thicker pieces. This hay smells about the same as Timothy.I gave my bunnies both types of hay and watched them. On the left side is Timothy hay, the right side is the teff hay. They immediately went to the teff hay, probably because they like inspecting new things.First impressions: after getting used to it they seemed to prefer the Timothy slightly over the teff. The teff hay also doesn't have any of those fluffy seed heads that some bunnies go crazy for. Mine don't particularly care for the fluffy bits so that's not a problem.Update after about 6 hours: they've eaten nearly all the teff hay and barely touched the Timothy hay. At first I thought they preferred the Timothy but it seems that they actually like the teff much better! I was surprised because they usually go for the thicker pieces of hay rather than thinner ones so I was sure the Timothy hay would win out.Update after a few days: The teff hay is definitely their favorite. I have two different hat spots for them and the teff goes into the clear bin. The teff is always gone first.

    The bunnies approve

I like to offer my rabbits a choice of several grass hays. We had never tried Teflon grass before and this is also a new brand for me. The bag is easy to tear open and has a convenient zip closure. It’s a smaller bag than I usually buy (typically I buy 9 or 10 lb boxes) and likely won’t last very long in my house. At about $7 per lb of hay this is also more expensive than the hays I usually buy. I wish it was available in a larger size. The hay itself is fresh and green with hardly any odor or dust. The bunnies left their orchards grass behind to dig in for a taste.

Good stuff, my guinea pigs loved it!

This was a huge bag of Blue mountain Timothy Hay. The guinea pigs loved it and finished it off quickly. Looks and smells fresh. Will not hesitate to buy again.
